摘要:We live in an era of data deluge. Pervasive sensors collect massive amounts of information on every bit of our lives, churning out enormous streams of raw data in various formats. While Big Data can be definitely perceived as a big blessing, big challenges also arise with large-scale datasets. This talk will present useful techniques in extracting computationally affordable yet informative subsets of massive datasets. The focus is on relevant signal and information processing tools that are particularly useful for learning of large-scale datasets arising from monitoring and control of engineering and physical systems. The impact of these tools will be demonstrated in machine learning tasks arising in smart cities applications. The main features of a smart city include a high degree of information technology integration and a comprehensive application of information resources, which call for advances in signal processing and data analytics for efficient data collection and inference.
